Quelling the fears of many that the Trans-Texas Corridor would swallow a wide swath of rural land in East Texas, top Texas Department of Transportation officials announced Wednesday that the project will be developed along the route of U.S. Hwy 59 and that earlier plans to build new facilities through the countryside will be scrapped.
