The Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs got off to a fast start and never let up as they closed the regular season with a 54-12 pounding of the Trinity Tigers in Corrigan Friday night.
Corrigan-Camden (8-2, 4-1) used a variety of running backs with each having plenty of success as an overmatched Trinity team never really had a chance.
"We played well tonight," Corrigan-Camden head coach Seven Armstrong said. "It was typical Corrigan football. We ran the ball up and down the field."
With the playoffs just a week away, Armstrong and the Bulldogs used Friday night's game as a perfect opportunity to get several players in the game while keeping the starters healthy for the playoffs.
With Corrigan-Camden not playing a JV game this week, several of those players were able to get in the action.
"We played a lot of kids tonight," Armstrong said. "It was a good chance for us to rest some of our starters and get some guys healthy because we've got a big test next week."
That test will be in the form of Kirbyville, which won the state title last year and also knocked the Bulldogs out of the postseason. Corrigan-Camden and Kirbyville will meet Friday night at Lufkin's Abe Martin Stadium.
Kirbyville beat No. 5 state-ranked Newton 29-26 Friday night and finished the regular season at 8-2.
