Hudson hosted the District 18-3A cross country championships on Saturday and the Hornets and Lady Hornets made a clean sweep of all the division titles. Area schools represented at the District 18-3A meet were Hudson, Huntington, Central, Diboll, Jasper, Rusk, Center and Carthage.
The morning started with the varsity girl's race. Hudson's Missy Hebert won the race in a time of 12:25 just a mere second ahead of teammate Erin Moore (2nd, 12:26). Diboll's Kendal Mitchell was third in 12:31. Hudson's Jeannette Mireles placed fourth, 12:36, Melanie Fuentes placed seventh, 12:48, Courtney Gray placed 10th, 13:28, Emily Spivey placed 11th in 13:34 and Shannon Farmer placed 14th in 13:51.
In the JV girls division Hudson's Kristen Herrington won with a time of 13:45, Jasmine Turner placed second in 13:55, Krista Hartnett placed third, Kelsee Selman placed fourth and Brittany Livingston placed fifth. Other Hudson runners were: Haley Becker, eighth (15:40), Kelli Selman, ninth (15:46), Chelsey Durbin, 10th (16:01), Haley Willson, 11th (16:11), Cady Deal, 12th (16:24), Hannah Woods, 13th (16:32), Jade Havard, 16th (17:25), Courtney Aldredge, 17th (17:26), Sabrina Toole, 19th (17:40), Savannah Clark, 26th (19:01) and Latifah Worrell, 27th (19:04).
In the varsity boy's race, Jon Bates led his team with a second place finish in 16:32, behind winner Jason Enright of Central, who finished in 16:24. Hudson's J.J. Williams placed third in 17:45, Frank Divins placed fourth in 17:49, Bobby Bowman placed fifth in 17:50, Hunter Thomas placed sixth in 17:59, Alex Mize placed seventh in 18:05 and Zane Rudd placed 10th in 18:33.
In the JV boys race, Hudson's Tristen Woods won with a time of 18:44. Other Hudson runners were: Blake Kemp, second (18:49), Brandon Harris, third (19:11), Logan Womack, fourth (19:43), John Bolin, fifth (19:50), Marcus Mitchell, seventh (20:33), Chris Reynolds, eighth (20:37), Taylor Strong, ninth (20:48), Cory Greening, 10th (20:56), Andy Weaver, 16th (22:15), Josh Carlton, 17th (22:21), Ceasar Perez, 21st (22:47) and Ryan Hamel, 23rd (23:03).
Hudson also captured the middle school titles. In the girl's race Karina Medina ran away with the win in a time of 9:10 for the 1.5 mile race. In the boy's race Clay Shupak defeated the field by 15 seconds in a time of 8:15 for the 1.5 mile race.
