The Lufkin Band Program will sponsor Honor America Night Saturdayon the Lufkin High School Campus. The evening will feature a fireworks show, an all-American meal and performances by all Lufkin bands from 6th grade up. Beginning at 4:30 p.m, a dinner of hot dogs, apple pie and ice cream will be served at the Lufkin High School cafeteria. The meal is included in the $5 admission price. The stadium will open at 6 p.m. for seating for the show that begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from band students, at the cafeteria door or the stadium entrance.

"Be a Fan, Bring a Can" will be the theme for the "Seniors 2010" candlelight pep rally to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Abe Martin Stadium. Everyone is encouraged to bring a canned good to the pep rally and in exchange, receive a "glow stick" as long as supplies last. All the caned goods will be donated to CISC and the HOPE center. Senior members of all sports groups, spirit groups, class and student council officers will be honored and recognized for their hard work and several groups will perform. Although it is a candlelight pep rally, no open flame candles will be allowed.

Huntington High School's 14th annual Veteran's Day Celebration will take place at 10 a.m. Nov. 11. Veterans are asked to begin arriving at 9 a.m. for coffee and registration. This year's theme is "Thank you, Vets." Danny Merrill, local radio personality, will serve as master of ceremonies. The program will include distinguished guests and a slide show that includes more than 200 pictures of our local veterans. After the ceremony, the veterans and their guests are treated to a free meal, provided by the school district. Visitors from Angelina County and beyond are invited to join us on this day of remembering those who have served and are serving our country in the armed forces.
