Re: John Nelson's letter, "Where's the Beef?" Oct. 7: Mr. Nelson there is no beef left. The past eight years of Republican rule took all the beef, scraped the bottom of the barrel, leaving Americans beefless. Obama was elected to stop the war, all wars. Stanley McChrystal wants to escalate the war with no end. This is what the Republican leaders want. This will be Obama's war, even if Bush started the war. If the war is escalated many of America's best will die. The old adage "a rich man's war and a poor man's fight" is so true. The majority of Americans are sick and tired of the endless killing.
Eight years ago Bush said as he invaded Afghanistan, we will not waver, we will not falter, we will not tire, we will win. He wavered over to Iraq, the whole way paved with lies and deception, carried all the way by politicians both Democrat and Republican, too lazy to look for facts before we sent troops to Iraq. Thousands of America's bravest killed and injured, millions of Iraqi killed, the country destroyed. End result? More terrorists.
America is overrun with terrorists, all kinds. The worst are pedophiles. Children are no longer safe playing outside their homes. This country can't afford to protect our children. There's not enough law enforcement, but our government can afford to keep the wars going at all cost. You can't fix what was destroyed over eight years in eight months. Obama has done much to bring this country back from total collapse, but he will get no credit.
