More than 500 days ago, the U.S. negotiated a trade agreement with Colombia. When it went to the House of Representatives to be approved, Nancy Pelosi, the Democrat Speaker of the House, decided that she wouldn't allow it to be voted upon and approved.
Why? She stated that it was to protest the administration's general economic policies. Since the agreement has remained unsigned, a staunch ally of the U.S. in South America has been put at a disadvantage. And more importantly, American farmers and businesses have paid nearly $1 billion in taxes to Colombia that would have been saved. In addition, U.S. exports have been hampered which negatively affects all Americans. When will some of the many sensible Democrats fix this problem by demanding that Pelosi cease blocking this very worthwhile agreement?
