This letter is a thank you to the Lufkin PD, Lufkin FD, Angelina County Sheriff's Office, Search and Rescue, helicopter crews, Texas DPS and all of the neighbors and volunteers and any others that were involved or helped in the search for my grandson, AJ Bonacci, on Saturday night. Also, to the news media for helping get the word out that AJ was missing. I can't thank you enough for your efforts in helping to find AJ. Our family is so appreciative of your efforts and prayers that helped bring AJ back to us. Also we can't forget to thank Hank, the cow dog, who stayed with AJ throughout his ordeal and alerted searchers to AJ's location. A special thank you to my dear friend and coworker Gil Stovall and his family for coming from Livingston to help in the search and being the ones to find AJ.
For all the parents and grandparents with small children, you need to talk with your children about what to do if they get lost. AJ had been told not to talk with strangers, but in this case it could have averted many hours of him being lost, and our anguish. Talk with your children. I don't want any of you to have to go through the ordeal we went through Saturday night. It has been three days now since AJ was found and my emotions of him being out alone at night and no one knowing where he was are still with me and it scares me to death to think of all of the bad things that could have happened to him.
Love your children and pray that nothing like this ever happens to them. Our prayers were answered Sunday morning and I know yours can be too.
"Jesus loves the little children, All the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, All are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world."
And they are precious in our sight too.
