NOV. 3 ELECTION

Prop. 11

Sunday, November 01, 2009

Election Day issue

Texans will go to the polls Tuesday to vote on 11 proposed state constitutional amendments. For the past 10 days, we've taken a closer look at each proposition.

Prop. 11

Proposition 11 restricts use of eminent domain to taking private property for public purposes.

Supporters say: Restricts the government from taking private property for any use other than a clearly public purpose.

Opponents say: Could conflict with previous court rulings. The constitution is not the proper forum for testing new legal provisions.
