Election Day issue

Texans will go to the polls Tuesday to vote on 11 proposed state constitutional amendments. Each day through Sunday , we'll look at one proposition. Early voting ends today.

Prop. 9

Proposition 9 establishes a right to use and access public beaches.

Supporters say:Strengthens state law providing public access to state beaches and demonstrates the extent of support for open beaches.

Opponents say: Enacting a constitutional amendment would interfere further with private property rights, especially when erosion and storms change the topography of the beach.
