NOV. 3 ELECTION

Proposition 8

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Texans will go to the polls Nov. 3 to vote on 11 proposed state constitutional amendments. Each day through Sunday , we'll look at one proposition. Early voting will end Friday.

Prop. 8

Proposition 8 would authorize the state to contribute resources to veterans hospitals.

Supporters say: Gives clear authority to the state to use money for veterans hospitals.

Opponents say: An amendment is not needed because the Legislature passed a law requiring the state to work with the federal government to establish a veterans hospital in the Rio Grande Valley and allows the state to contribute resources to such a hospital.
