Thursday night's storm system left a lasting impression on East Texas.
The rising waters flooded many homes and businesses in Angelina County as rivers and creeks rose, and many homes were without power for several hours.

On Saturday, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, in Shreveport, La., said East Texas has received well above average rainfall for this time of the year.
"Lufkin has received about 6.11 inches of rainfall in the last two days alone," said Patrick Omundson, a meteorologist with the NWS. "A majority of that was seen on Thursday night, with 5.58 inches of rain, followed Friday with about .53 inches."
Omundson said that brings the yearly average so far up to about 10 inches higher than normal. Lufkin received 15.04 inches of rainfall in the month of October.
"Usually about this time of year, on average, East Texas will have seen about 37.5 inches of rain by the end of October. But with all the storms this month, Lufkin is looking at a rainfall total of about 48.24 inches so far this year and that's a big jump," he said.
The large storm system rolled across Texas Thursday, covering most of south, central and eastern Texas, before continuing on across Louisiana and much of the southern U.S. Omundson said the storm system finally broke apart over parts of western Tennessee.
The wake of Thursday and Friday's rain left East Texas with a considerably noticeable cold snap that weather officials say will last well into the first week of November, with little to no showers.
"This week we've got a completely dry forecast through the coming seven-day period," Omundson said. "We don't anticipate any precipitation in the forecast for the next week or so."
The northwestern cold front will keep temperatures low, he said, with highs hovering around the mid-60s and lower 70s.
"We should have another weak cold front Monday night, but that should only change the lows by a few degrees," Omundson said.
East Texans will be looking at low temperatures in the low 40s through the week, he said, also below average for the area.
"The cold weather right now is not abnormal this time of the year, although it is a little low," he said. "The normal low for this time of year is about 51 degrees, with an average high of about 75, so this week should be colder than an average week for the beginning of November."
