A Lufkin teen's own father was the victim in an alleged drunk-driving wreck that left the 19-year-old son charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Don Ray Williamson, 54, died Tuesday shortly before 5 p.m. on FM 842, when the 2001 GMC Sierra truck Shiloh Chance Williamson was driving left the road and struck a tree. The two are father and son, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Rodney Tucker confirmed Thursday. Tucker is investigating the accident.
The two were traveling north late Tuesday afternoon when the accident happened, two miles north of state Highway 103 east, when the truck veered onto the right shoulder and over-corrected in an attempt to get back on the road.
It appeared Shiloh Williamson was intoxicated at the scene, and he was taken to Angelina County Jail and given a breathalyzer test, Tucker said. The results of that test were not released pending further investigation, although Williamson was booked into jail after the test and has been held on a $15,000 bond.
Tucker said he had little information yet on the father and son, although the indication was that the two were heading home at the time of the accident.
Don Ray Williamson was killed on impact. He had not been using a seatbelt, according to a DPS accident report.
