FYI: Editorial page changes to come after first of year

The Lufkin Daily News

Monday, October 26, 2009

Q: When will The Lufkin Daily News make its changes on the editorial page?

A: Editor Andy Adams said the newspaper hopes to implement the planned changes to our columnist and editorial cartoonist lineup on Jan. 1, 2010.

"We are under contracts with our syndicated writers and cartoonists through the end of this year, so we intend to have our new lineup worked out within the next few weeks, and then start running the new content — and the columns and cartoons that our readers said they wanted us to keep — at the first of the new year," Adams said.

He said he also wanted to remind readers that, while the makeup of the editorial page content may be changing a bit, the newspaper intends to keep the page as balanced as possible. The new lineup will be the result of an editorial page survey to which around 150 readers responded.
