A Fuller Springs couple was lucky to escape their home after it caught fire Thursday morning, a family member said. The home located at 1307 Carrell Road is a total loss. |
"He called for her and she thought he had fallen so she went to check on him," Holland said. "When she got back in the kitchen it was flaming up over the back of the stove."
Kirkland then set to work getting her husband and their two small dogs to safety.
"(G.W.) is on oxygen and they knew when the fire hit the tank it would blow, and it did," Holland said. "They got out though. Everyone is OK. It's a total loss of everything though."
Fuller Springs, Moffett and Huntington Volunteer Fire Departments and Lufkin Fire fought to extinguish the blaze at 1307 Carrell Road, continuing to monitor it for hot spots throughout the day Thursday.
