Around midnight on Sunday night, Sept. 6, a local man stopped at a convenience store on North Timberland and Atkinson where two women asked him for a ride. The man gave them a ride to a house off Paul Street, where he was beaten and robbed by several men.
One of the women was white and the other was black. They directed the victim to drive them to a house in the Lufkin Land area off Paul Street, where several black men were hanging around outside. The women told the victim they would get him some gas money and they'd be right back. While the victim was waiting, several of the men from the house approached him.
One man ordered him from the pickup and another grabbed his arms and bent them up behind his back. Helpless, the victim was held while some of the other men took some cash from his pocket and hit him in the head with an unknown object and made several cuts to his face with a razor blade. The victim broke free and fled in his vehicle. The victim was not able to find the house again when he attempted to show officers where the crime occurred.
