Lufkin police have arrested a man and woman after narcotics officers found more than $11,000 worth of meth inside a storage shed behind a house on Chestnut Drive, a police spokesman said.
Bradley K. Bell, 39 and Denisha Swearingen, 33, were booked into Angelina County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of certain chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance.
Officers seized more than 100 grams of meth inside a storage shed at 2103 Chestnut Drive late Monday night, said Lt. David Young.
The drug raid came after an anonymous phone tip led officers to the house with a strong chemical odor, Young said. An alleged meth lab inside the shed was in full operation when officers arrived. Young said. Officers noted video cameras mounted on the shed for surveillance.
Bell and Swearingen arrived home just as officers were knocking on their door, Young said. Officers obtained a search warrant and found hundreds of pseudoephedrine pills — the main ingredient in cold medicine tablets used to produce meth — lab paraphernalia and a powdery substance that tested positive for meth, the spokesman said.
Bell has also been charged with felon in possession of a firearm after officers found a .357-caliber handgun at the house, Young said.
