FYI: Taped-down lids don't fly for alcohol
Q: I heard there's a drive-thru beer store on Timberland that sells margaritas and daiquiris to go. I was told they serve them in paper cups with the lids taped down. Is this even legal? And if so, could a bar or restaurant also sell mixed drinks to-go?
FYI: Crime Stoppers Band doesn't do 'Cocaine'
Q: I am appalled and embarrassed that the Lufkin Crime Stoppers Band would sing and play the song "Cocaine." They performed it at the Science Fair, attended by various students from area schools, on Wednesday. Just what message are we trying to give our children?
FYI: Church and home being built on Old Union Road
Q: What is being built on Old Union Road just past Live Oak? They've cleared a large tract of land and cut all the trees. Is it going to be an apartment complex?
FYI: Daniel McCall Drive will be open before bridges close
Q: With the looming closure of the Whitehouse bridge will The Lufkin Daily News consider printing a map showing how to enter and leave the Wal-Mart complex? This is especially important for those of us who go to Wal-Mart from 59 north. I hope local law enforcement is preparing for the increase in traffic accidents resulting from the bridge closure.
FYI: Early voting for Hudson school board continues through next Friday
Q: Where and when can I vote early for the Hudson school board election?
FYI: Program offers work for those over 55
Q: Does Angelina County or any organization therein, state, federal or local, offer a part-time work program for individuals age 55 or over? If so, how can these organizations be located?
Reader asks about VFW lake
Q: What are the rules for using the VFW lake on Ford Chapel Road?
FYI: Several factors make milk cost more
Q: Can someone explain why milk is so expensive when 99 percent of it is water?
FYI: There's no law in Lufkin that says you can't have a snake
Q: I heard that there is a new law that went into effect in April about keeping snakes for pets or selling them?
FYI: Ryan Deaton does not take court-appointed work
Q: Is Ryan Deaton a court-appointed attorney? I hear of him representing the worst offenders (the babysitter that smothered the little girl, the man that killed his unborn twins, and now this teacher that had sex with a student). I was just wondering if he was appointed by the judicial system or if he chooses to defend these terrible people.
