I read the article about mudding on Angelina County roads in the Hudson area. I live in the same precinct in Central ISD. McKnight Road, which was not mentioned, is also in Rick Harrison's district. This road is eight miles of mud, rock and more mud that kids are mudding on. This road gets graded twice a year, which is a sloppy job. The gas drilling companies gave Angelina County thousands of dollars in 2007 and 2008 to help take care of this road. I think our commissioner needs to drive this road a couple of times, make sure he drives 5 mph to keep from knocking his teeth out of his head on all the potholes and pipe sink-ins. I think we need a commissioner that will take care of more than just where he lives. He treats McKnight Road like the south end of a north bound mule. Please do something about this Rick Harrison, since I have contacted you numerous times.

I have a few points to ponder. Why is it everything President Obama wants to implement into our lives a crisis? I walk outside and I can still breathe I am not dying from heat stroke so is CO2 and global warming really a problem? Should we all be force fed cap trade because the dems and environmentalists think so? I thought CO2 was needed for plants to live and produce oxygen that we breathe. How much is going green costing this country?

LETTER: Theocratic anarchists?

Mr. Lee accuses me of "missing the point" when I clarified the Constitution does not prohibit a private citizen preferring a "godly society." However, his claim that our group needs to be educated on the constitutional prohibition of religious tests was (in his own letter) based upon the remark of a private citizen that our nation should return to "godly principles." If his argument has nothing to do with private preferences then why did he support it by citing a private preference? If his issue is with establishment of religion by government then he should offer evidence that our group is working toward such a goal rather than relying on straw-man arguments. He has twice written this paper to remind us that government cannot establish religion, so I can only conclude that he believes or would like others to believe that The Founders Alliance supports theocracy; yet, he then accuses us of being anarchists. Theocratic anarchists? He notes a primary motivation for the Constitution was to "regulate" commerce, but again ignores historical context. The convention was called partly to stop interstate trade wars. The power granted was to be used as a restraint on the states, forbidding them from setting trade barriers between them; in other words, essentially guaranteeing a free market. This is abundantly clear in the Federalists 22, 42, 44 and 56 as well as 150 years of Supreme Court rulings prior to Wicker v. Filburn, wherein the court insanely decided that a man could be fined and ordered to destroy his personal wheat harvest if Congress so desired. A history of the Commerce Clause and the American free market is available at TheFoundersAlliance.org. No one need take my word for it, see what the authors of the Constitution and 150 years of Supreme Court precedent said.

LETTER: Abortion and Plan B

Mrs. Green, I shall try to make this short and sweet. I am a senior in high school who prays at the clinic. In response to your comments about the protesters being violent and offensive, I say the violent protesters aren't affiliated with us. Violent people who claim to be a part of ''40 Days'' prove themselves to not be by their actions. ''40 Days for Life'' is, as it claims, a peaceful and prayerful organization. We are even asked to sign a statement of peace before going out to witness at the clinic. Now I have a question for you. Why are you so offended when asked, "How would you feel if you were the baby and your mother was aborting you?" Is it perhaps because you know that you would not feel anything because you would not be alive? Possibly it is because looking back on your life in retrospect you would see that as a fetus you already had a future ahead of you. Had your mother aborted you then you would not be here debating the issue. In regards to Plan B, by your own words it does not do as it is advertised to do, thus you are lying. To prevent something not only must it come before what it is intending to prevent to keep it from happening but also to prevent something you must have an effect on it. This is what you have said Plan B does after you have had intercourse. What you are saying is that if it is not used before five days after intercourse then you are going to get pregnant. However, a woman can be pregnant within hours after intercourse. Scientifically speaking, a woman who is pregnant would then be aborting her baby by using Plan B.
