LONGVIEW — Four people died on area roadways over the weekend.
Jason Brett "Bubba" Collins, 32, of Longview was pronounced dead at Longview Regional Medical Center after 4 p.m. Saturday after he lost control and was thrown from his 2001 Yamaha motorcycle in the 200 block of Syble Lane. It was the sixth deadly crash in Longview for 2007, according to police.
Ladevin Hodge, 16, of Linden died at the scene of a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 59 in Cass County early Saturday. Officials said Hodge and his passenger, 17-year-old Whitney Surratt, had attended a Linden-Kildare High School prom earlier in the evening.
Surratt was listed in serious condition Monday at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Ark, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Funeral services are scheduled this morning for two local men who died in separate single vehicle crashes over the weekend.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church in Carthage at 10 a.m. for Adam Wade Johnson, 19. Services for Kale David Lindsay, 20, will also begin at 10 a.m. at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene Friday around 5:30 p.m. by Panola County Judge David L. Anderson on Texas Highway 315, about two miles west of Carthage.
A Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said Johnson was travelling west when his Chevrolet pickup crossed to the south side of the road and continued westbound, before becoming airborne over a creek and striking a tree.
Trooper Jean Dark said the truck became fully submerged in the creek and that there was no indication that brakes were used. She added that Johnson was wearing his seatbelt.
Lindsay, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene on FM 1970 in Shelby County early Sunday by Jim L. Powers, precinct 5 justice of the peace.
Investigating Trooper John Riggins said Lindsay's southbound 1992 Jeep Wrangler left the roadway and struck a tree, ejecting him from the vehicle. Riggins said Lindsay was not wearing a seatbelt.
