A man was taken by air ambulance to a Tyler hospital with unknown injuries after being thrown from his horse Wednesday afternoon.
John Craig, 60, was riding the horse at his Moffett home around 2:45 p.m. when the horse "went crazy," according to a neighbor's account. Craig got the horse about five months ago and was getting used to riding it, said his daughter Lottie Gann.

An air ambulance takes off from state Highway 103 east Wednesday afternoon, en route to Tyler with a Lufkin man injured when he was thrown from a horse. |
"The neighbors said after the horse threw him he got up, dusted himself off and put his things back into his pockets — then he just fell to the ground and started shaking," Gann said. "There was blood coming from his mouth and there was blood on the ground where he fell."
Lufkin Fire and Moffett Volunteer Fire departments responded to the call. A portion of state Highway 103 east at Moffett Road was shut down for about an hour to allow the air ambulance to land.
Craig was taken to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. An update on his condition was not available Wednesday evening.
