Picture sitting in a lush garden at dusk enjoying homemade desserts. You hear a band playing familiar classics. Intriguing art and items for a live auction are on display around every corner. Sound like a nice way to spend a Saturday night?
Then "Dinner and Dancing Under the Stars" this Saturday from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m at the Museum of East Texas is for you.
The event, held in the beautiful back garden of the museum, is the museum board's only fundraiser that benefits the MET. If you've appreciated the many popular exhibits over the past year, this weekend is your chance to give back.
"We are going to have some great music and the food is just incredible," said J.P. McDonald, executive director. "We've got one-of-a-kind art and some unique parties at the museum in the live auction. It's all for a good cause."
The last fund-raiser was held in 2006, giving the board two years to prepare for the popular event, which always draws a large crowd.
Entertainment will be provided by Emag,e a local classic rock band, and Corey Johnson a soul full acoustic singer. A delicious and eclectic menu has been created by the trustees and drink mixers will be provided for guests.
The event has a country garden theme and attire is business casual. Tables for eight are $750, tickets for reserved couples are $150, tickets for a couple are $50 and individual tickets are $35. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or you can call us to make reservations.
