As I'm writing this the police scanner here in the newsroom is going crazy with voices talking about all the flooded roads and stranded motorists caused by the torrential downpour this afternoon.
In case you've been sleeping under a rock all week, it has been raining cats and dogs over much of East Texas.
Maybe for Halloween I'll go as a giant umbrella this year? That way I'd be the most dry person at every party!
I've heard from several different people that the rain is supposed to stop Friday just in time for all the high school football games, but I'll believe it when I see it!
So Halloween, my second favorite holiday (behind Christmas) is here again and there's a lot going on around town to celebrate.

In Nacogdoches on Friday, the Cole Art Center is hosting a free one-night-only screening of "The Mask." The beloved mid-1990s movie, featuring Jim Carrey, solidified his role as a modern comedic force and is a roller coaster of laughs from start to finish. The show starts at 7 p.m. and these screenings usually fill up fast, so get there early to ensure your seat.

Saturday night a bonafide "smackdown" is coming to Lufkin wrestling fans when the Pineywoods Wrestlefest comes to the Pitser Garrison Civic Center, in Lufkin. The show starts with a meet and greet at 5 p.m., and wrestling kicks off at 7 p.m. There are a whole host of local and regional wrestlers coming in for the event, and it should prove to be a rowdy time for all.

Sunday the Parsons Dance troupe, from New York, is coming to the Temple Theater at Angelina College for a one-night-only dance performance. And let's not forget that Saturday is Halloween! There will be tons of costume parties and get-togethers around East Texas, so keep your eyes open and your costumes on. I will be performing at Bullfrog's, in downtown Nacogdoches, for their "Nacogdoches Saturday Nights" show, with a couple of talented Nacogdoches musicians. Come out and listen to some tunes and say hello. I think I'll be dressed as a zombie magician — not sure yet, but I do have a cape and a top hat that I need to use.
