Among the nontraditional ways the unchurched are being converted includes an upcoming appearance in Lufkin of Christian pro wrestlers.
Mark Von Erich, described as a "Texas Living Legend" will be among those performing at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at the gymnasium at Lufkin High School, a Christian Pro Wrestling press release stated.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and tickets are free. Seats are limited to just over 1,000. To reserve tickets call 639-4008 and may be picked up or held at the gate.
Von Erich appeared on the Trinity Broadcasting Network recently where he said a serious motorcycle accident in 1995 kept him out of wrestling for a year and led him to rededicate his life to Jesus, the release stated.
"I knew I could not live my old lifestyle, and needed to find a way to commit my career to God," he said.
Von Erich witnesses for Christ as part of the wrestling event.
Von Erich is scheduled to meet fans and sign autographs at Pizzetti's Pizza 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Pizzetti's Pizza in Diboll on Thursday; 3:30 - 4:45 p.m. at the Sonic in Huntington on May 10; and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. May 10 at the Texaco in Wells.
