Air(Mail) Guitar
When Shari Ratliff put out the word she was looking for a used guitar to send to her son stationed in Afghanistan, she didn’t expect such a large response.
And she certainly didn’t expect to receive a brand new guitar from an anonymous donor. But thanks to a few generous people, Ratcliff’s son, Cliff Meyer, will now have a brand new acoustic guitar to entertain his friends overseas.Link to full story.

This is a wonderful story. Seems there are some great folks out there in the world, still!
It is so nice to be able to have this kind of contact with troops who are over in any foreign country fighting our government’s unnecessary wars with people abroad, but nevertheless, they work for the government, and deserve anything they can receive from their family and friends; as in this case, a friend who is probably unknown.
I, too, and my wife and son are part of a program where we correspond with a soldier. It is called…”Adopt a Soldier”, in our place. We “adopted” one, a girl in the Marine Corps, by the way, who is fighting alongside the other troopers in Pakistan right now. She has a laptop and we correspond with her every opportunity when she pinches one of our three Internet lines at our home.
We have sent her the usual…cookies, specialty doughnuts, etc…all sealed specifically in waterproof and safe plastic wrappings. She got a new bikini from us last month, and already sent a photo of her wearing it…with about 30 other Marines surrounding her.
It is fun to adopt a soldier, and if you get the chance to look into it, please consider doing it. Even just texting or email or blogging to them will pick them up a lot and it is interesting to learn about each other in the meantime.
