Twas The Night Before The Election

‘Twas the night before election And all through the town Tempers were flaring Emotions all up and down!

I, in my bathrobe With a cat in my lap Had cut off the TV Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden There arose such a noise I peered out of my window Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet They wanted my pay To give to the others Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money And quick as a wink Jumped back on his bandwagon As I gagged from the stink

He then rallied his henchmen Who were pulling his cart I could tell they were out To tear my country apart!

’ On Fannie, on Freddie, On Biden and Ayers! On Acorn, On Pelosi’ He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause And as he flew out of sight I heard him laugh at the nation Who wouldn’t stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think On this one final note- IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

I am so afraid that you are right. America won’t ever be the same again if Osama gets in there. The freedom we have is going to be taken from us and just to know that people are blinded by his lies and all the cheating that is being done to get him into the White House. Go to Youtube and watch one soldier give his thoughts on Obama. Pray people, if you believe that God is in control , pray like you have never prayed before.

Also whether you can spell right or not, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t make you less and those who keep bringing that up need to get a real life.

I just have to scratch my head every time I hear a Catholic say they are voting for Obama. WHAT! How can you be a Catholic and vote for someone who is pro-abortion and gay marriage? These things are not God”s way or are you worshiping another God? You Obama lovers are being deceived. If he gets in the White House it will be a sad and scary day for this country. A lot of people are going to have huge regrets and and ask themselves “what did we do?”. Oh yes, let us not judge someone by the color of their skin, but whether can spell or not! Mary, I hate to tell you this, BUT… OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT can and WILL be far worse than Bush. Acams, one point of clarification. I don’t think you can hold blacks responsible for Obama’s possible election. Despite the fact you feel that 99% of black people are “racist and prejudice” they usually vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic candidate, regardless of race. Gallup polling estimated that John Kerry received 93% of the black vote in 2004, and Al Gore received 95% in 2000 and both those candidates lost. Additionally the “dumb people that vote straight democrap” always vote democratic and (like the prior examples) their candidates normally lose. The reason Obama may be elected is the the Centrist types (neither Republican or Democrat) seem to be leaning his way as well as disenfranchised Republicans. So as you sling your invectives you might want to want to target the folks that are responsible, the middle of the road types and members of the Republican party who have decided to vote for Obama.

The churches I have been to teach that abortion is wrong, yet here comes Obama and they would sell their soul because they think he is going to hand them over checks. Is money more important to them than the life of another human? Why did their parents not abort them? It is because it is wrong. It is plain and simple murder!!!!If you let Obama means more to you than God’s law then you deserve what you get. I do blieve that when it is said and done you will all regret voting for him.

I love America. I am so proud of those who have fought and died for our country. If we pull out and wave the white flag of surrender then those who have died, have died in vain. I was raised in a Catholic home and I can tell you that abortion is one of their big issues. You cannot condone abortion in any way, shape, or form. It’s a mortal sin. Voting for someone who doesn’t respect the life and rights of the unborn is condoning abortion. I’m now Baptist, and as I understand it God calls each and every one of us to be a witness. You can use your vote as an opportunity to witness. It’s a clear cut thing.. there are no shades of gray with this issue.

I also have to say that in this election there’s racism on both sides. White’s won’t vote for Obama just because he’s black, and blacks will vote for him just because he’s black. Obama’s racist whether he chooses to admit it or not. That man went to a church that was anti-white, anti-american, and just plain aggresive for 20 years.. you cannot tell me that it didn’t rub off on him. If you go to church, you know that you think about the sermons during the week.. you digest that information whether you actively choose to or not. So it’s there. My mom always told me that you are guilty by association, and my mom was right. Look who Obama is associating with??

I’m just ready for this to be over.. Bring on Tuesday already and let’s move forward.

Fellow citizens, let’s talk about choice. A woman’s choice and a man’s choice is made when SHE and HE chooses to participate in a sexual act without PREPARING for the CONSEQUENCES (OR PREVENTING the likely consequences). TWO PEOPLE MAKE THE CHOICE to have sexual intercourse. Unfortunately, too many times the female has been left with the entire burden of the CONSEQUENCES of an act in which TWO PERSONS PARTICIPATED.

Roe vs. Wade simply made it LEGAL for WOMEN TO BE JUST AS IRRESPONSIBLE AS MEN IN REGARD TO THEIR SEXUAL BEHAVIOR. Pregnancy is often the result of sexual intercourse. (Duh!) If sexual partners fail to PLAN or fail to PREVENT the likely consequences of their behavior, then they reap the consequences.

Why don’t we as a society address the real issue - IRRESPONSIBILITY! Why don’t we as a society insist that men WHO DO NOT WANT CHILDREN freeze their sperm and have vasectomies (just in case they change their mind later)? That way procreation certainly is a CHOICE. Or, how about women who don’t want children having tubaligations - they can freeze their eggs in case they change their minds later.

When was the last time you tried to talk a doctor into performing either a vasectomy or a tubaligation if you had no children? Doctors WILL NOT perform the procedure. I know, I’ve been in that situation. Why doesn’t society attack these physician’s behavior instead of the defenseless potential human being? Why don’t we as a society attack the laws in many states that will not allow a married woman to have a tubaligation without the consent of her husband? Do you have any idea how many women fall into this category? Talk about not having a right to choose – laws like these are certainly not allowing a woman the right to choose or have control over her body.

Take religion out of the equation. Let’s talk survival of the human species. This is not rocket science. Since human beings have not devised other methods for procreation, the only way for human beings to perpetuate the species is to have sex and for women to bear children. It appears that all of us begin life as a so called “non-life form”.

It is irrational for a person to call potential life not a life when they do not want a baby, and then to say that it is a life at a different time in their life when they want the baby. When a society begins to start rationalizing their behavior, instead of seeking to find the root of the issue, mistakes occur. When society takes steps that make life ‘cheap’ and worthless, it is not long until ALL LIFE becomes cheap and worthless in that society. Making something legal puts a stamp of approval on the behavior. The root of the abortion issue is the behavior we are neglecting to modify.

Let’s not start calling others hypocrites. Let’s understand how laws are made and changed in these United States of America. Our Congress legislates (or makes law) and allocates funds for the enforcement of a law. (Many times Congress passes a law, and then DOES NOT allocate funds to enact the law – so they have just created a media event for themselves.)

It takes 2/3 of both houses of Congress, not the President, to propose an amendment to the Constitution. It takes 3/4 of the states to ratify the proposed amendment in order to amend the United States Constitution.

For the past 30 years our Congress has done nothing to address the cause of the abortion issue. President Clinton was in office for 8 years – from 1992 to 2000. He did no more than George Bush to delve into the root cause of the abortion issue. Attorney’s have been extracting hefty fees fighting this issue since the decision was made. Neither Democrats nor Republicans have addressed the cause of the problem: they are too busy collecting fees arguing about it.

The United States Supreme Court is supposed to determine if a law is valid in accordance with the Constitution. It is not the place of the Supreme Court to re-write the Constitution; that is what the amendment process is for.

As citizens of these United States, we have neglected our civic duty the past 30 years to keep our Congress in check by failing to vote. Most persons in Congress have been elected by far less than 30% of the eligible voters in each State. If a candidate wins an election by 52% of the votes cast, that person was just elected to office by a mere 16% of eligible voters. Shame on us citizens for neglecting our civic responsibility.

Have you ever wondered why most politicians are lawyers? Have you ever wondered how lawyers made their living? Contention. If people resolve their disputes by talking with each other, listening, and compromising, they DO NOT NEED ATTORNEY’S. Lawyers earn their livings by keeping contention alive. Think about that.

So friends, when are we going to quit letting politicians and the media jerk us around like puppets on a string? We can think, we simply have to quite emotionalizing. We have the power to change our Congress, who legislates, and who has not acted in the people’s interest the past 30 plus years. We need to turn out to vote for Congress in the numbers this election has turned out voters for the Presidency. The President does not legislate, nor does the President allocate funds. I think it is time for a reality check on this fact and the fact that lawyers love contention; it fills their coffers. Investigate the root of the problem, and act accordingly.

So, I can never get an answer to this from folks that wish to make abortion illegal, (and yes I am against abortion, however believe that decisions rest with the woman, her family and god). If you make abortion illegal (basically murder I’m assuming) you have to have a policing arm of the government. You’ll have to raise taxes as you’ll have a flood of investigations, prosecutions and subsequent incarcerations for the woman that chose to have an abortion anyway. This will be relatively expensive, however I’m assuming that you’re ok with the cost, larger government and locking women away because, well, they’re guilty of murder. So the question is, are the penalties the same for these women as other felons? Obviously this would be a premeditated action so would the death sentence be an option? What if someone had multiple abortions? Would you only punish the abortionist? It doesn’t seem like that would work, seems like you’d have to punish both. How many years would a woman get for having an abortion? I have spoken to many people who wish to make it illegal, and I do believe their intentions are noble. However, they shy away from discussions of punishment to women who would have abortions anyway. I’ve often felt this is another reason why an “antiabortion” law would be hard to pass. While most folks agree abortion is a horrible thing, they can’t bring themselves to incarcerate little 16 year old Suzy from down the street because she had one. However if punishment is just a slap on the hand, you don’t change the behavior. If a law were to be passed these are questions that would have to be addressed. Out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone had any answers.

If a baby is born and someone , say the mother killed it and threw it in the trash and she was caught, what would her punishment be? God said HE knew us from the moment of conception. God’s law above all other laws…..Maybe if everyone would do what God says to do we wouldn’t be murdering our babies. I know, that will never happen. There is no excuse for killing babies…someone is going to answer to God for all this….

I don’t quite understand the comments of people who sincerely believe in God’s word in our Holy Scripture and yet continue to oppose the abortion of bastards. The only people who should NOT be allowed abortions are mothers who’s child is conceived in Holy Matrimony. What does Deuteronomy 23.2 say but: “The bastard shall not enter the congregation of the LORD; even to his 10th generation. None of his descendants may enter the Assembly of the Lord. If God wanted bastards (those conceived out of Holy Matrimony) to live why would HE condemn these same bastards never to enter into the congregations of those who worship God??? Or heaven! By preventing abortions of those who have been conceived OUT OF HOLY MATRIMONY we are going against God’s word! And here is Sarah Palin, the first supposedly real Christian politician since Jimmy Carter, and she ALLOWED her daughter to get pregnant out of wedlock and now is allowing her daughter to bring another BASTARD into the world. It will bring down on us surely, the wrath of God, to disobey HIS WORD so flagrantly!

Obama can’t produce a US birth certificate… he has an aunt that is living here in the us without a green card…(illeaglly) If any of you know anything about Christianity, you already know that obama has all the characteristics of the anti-christ….. he is for abortion, he is for homosexuals, he is extreme left field liberal….This is everything anti-christ….I believe that Jesus is just about ready to split the eastern sky, and I also believe that obama is the anti-christ, and if not, he will probably usher the anti-christ in….obama is not for you and I he is for himself….but then so is the remainder of the polititians…If they’re not crooks when they get elected they’ll be crooks by the time they’re finished….. How dare you quote the Bible and say such vile and vicious things about a woman who treasures life and the God who granted it? Get your head out of the Old Testament which was the Law of Moses, which humanity is not living under now, and look in the New Testament, Law of God through Jesus Christ and read Acts 2:21…”And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” While you’re at it, read how the Lord God knew each of us before we were even in the womb. And, study what the true language of the Bible said when that passage in Deuteronomy was written. It used the word “mamzer”, not bastard, which mean a child of a Jewish father and a heathern mother. A mixed race child. Now, look at Obama…a mixed race child. That word “bastard” in the context you presented it would mean HIM!

Plus the bible says the beast will “Come up out of the see having ten horns and seven heads”, Obama came from Hawaii..ACROSS THE SEA!! And when Obama was young he went to see a band AND THAT BAND HAD A HORN SECTION WITH TEN HORNS IN IT! And if you take all the members of his family (plus 3 more relatives) then YOU HAVE SEVEN HEADS!! Also it says “like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion” WHAT COULD BE CLEARER!!! HAVE YOU SEEN HIS FEET??!!.

Keep praying and believing that God will take care of all of us. Also I heard that Obama is going to make sure that the coal industry will go out of business and that electricity will sky rocket. This came from Obama’s own mouth.

If people knew God’s word and believed in HIM this would not be happening. HE said, that if the nation would turn back to HIM that HE would heal our nation. Evil people will not turn to HIM so where does that leave us? Tribulation!!! Pray, pray with your whole might….pray that God will heal our nation…. We are a nation that kills its children, thats selfish, depravity , deceitful , desperately wicked, disobedience to God,evil, lovers of money .

I think everyone should stop fighting and arguing and quoting the bible for their own use. We need to pray about what God wants and leave it up to him as to who he will put in office and believe me it will be God’s choice and not ours, so again take some time and pray about it and see how God can work for our nation and our people.

Although I do not support Obama, and after having read some of the written comments, I would like to offer these words of our Brother, Jesus. “Judge not, lest ye be judged”. My reasons for not supporting Obama are my own. He may be the best thing to happen to the U.S. since Ronald Reagan, JFK, and/or Abe Lincoln. If it is God’s will that this man become president, then it must be for a reason.
There is a Democrat and a Republican running for the greatest office on earth. I urge you to VOTE for one of the candidates, the one that you choose. The other thought I have, after reading these comments is this “Let he who has not sinned, cast the first stone….” for that is what you all are doing. Thank you for letting me have my say.

Recently, I was listening to a very wise teacher who teaches The Holy Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse. He commented that the Bible teaches us what we need to do,starting with the law of the Ten Commandments. If we follow those the economy will straighten itself out as well. He continued to explain very rationally how that would happen. If you want to make sure you are voting for the right candidate, pray and choose the candidate you believe will follow God’s law.

When I was young I came home with a D in one of my classes at school. I told my dad about the stupid teacher that gave it to me. He looked at me a long time and said “Son you got that D yourself. You better start taking responsibility for what happens in your life, quit your whining and start acting like a man” I never forget that lesson (and you can bet my grade point average went way up!). The only reason I mention this is I’m hearing the same stuff now, John McCain lost the election (sad to say). He lost it because he failed to appeal to the majority of the American people. Now you can blame Obama (liar, Muslim, racist, radical Christian, Marxist, Arab, Iranian, child killer, anti-Christ, etc) or you can blame the American people (blacks, stupid democrats, ignorant people in general) and tell them to wake up. Or you can be men (or women as the case may be) accept the results and work for change in the future. But make no mistake, by continuing the whining and fear-mongering, it’s clear what choice you’ve made.

Yes, that scripture is in the Bible with a meaning in it that is never addressed. Jesus taught judge not lest ye be judged in order to teach us that it is not the judging that is “wrong”, but the judging that falls outside of what is righteous in order to get our own way. Anyone who judges another in order to gain their own way is not a righteous judge. Those who judge within the realm of God’s Righteousness and Will are standing for the Will of the Father.

Kathy, Could I trouble you to actually read my entire post? I was responding to Layla who quoted “Dr. Jack Wheeler” who was criticizing Obama. I merely pointed out that Wheeler (who is an idiot) also has made wild, unsubstantiated accusations about McCain as well and gave examples of his quotes (to prove what a fool Wheeler is).

Though I am an Obama supporter I would never attack John McCain. I disagree with him on many issues, however I have a lot of respect for him. When I do respond to posts it’s to clear up facts, or understand someones position. As an example, I asked how you would structure a law that could be passed to make abortion illegal you reply was “someone is going to answer to God for all this”. So you’re happy to make wild, unsubstantiated accusations, rant about God’s wrath and offer no solutions. If you want to make abortion illegal GET INTO ACTION AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, wringing your hands and whining is the act of a petulant child.

When I was young I came home with a D in one of my classes at school. I told my dad about the stupid teacher that gave it to me. He looked at me a long time and said “Son you got that D yourself. You better start taking responsibility for what happens in your life, quit your whining and start acting like a man” I never forget that lesson (and you can bet my grade point average went way up!). The only reason I mention this is I’m hearing the same stuff now, John McCain lost the election (sad to say). He lost it because he failed to appeal to the majority of the American people. Now you can blame Obama (liar, Muslim, racist, radical Christian, Marxist, Arab, Iranian, child killer, anti-Christ, etc), you can blame the media (liberal elitists, etc.) or you can blame the American people (blacks, stupid democrats, ignorant people in general). Or you can be men (or women as the case may be) accept the results and work for change in the future. But make no mistake, by continuing the whining and fear-mongering, it’s clear what choice you’ve made.

The “we are in the last days” and the other candidate is “anti-god” messages have been used in American politics since our inception. Timothy Dwight said about Thomas Jefferson “The Bible cast into a bonfire, our wives and daughters the victims of legal prostitution; soberly dishonored; speciously polluted; the outcast of delicacy and virtue.” Adams also said of Jefferson “At the present solemn and momentous epoch, the only question to be asked by every American, laying his hand on his heart, is: Shall I continue in allegiance to GOD — AND A RELIGIOUS PRESIDENT; Or impiously declare for JEFFERSON — AND NO GOD!!!”,…sound familiar?

So the same old “the end is near stuff” is used in every election, and will continue to be used in elections to come. Each time the new postulate believes that he (or she) is correct. They are appropriately ignored, and time marches on.

Several accusations were thrown out so thought I would revisit a few things, (these are all on earlier posts). I am a Christian (though I was called ‘godless” earlier), our family has 3 adopted children, I am against abortion, however feel that that decision rests with a woman, her family and God (government should best be left out of it). I run my own business which I built from the ground up and employees 33 people. I make well in excess of $250k/year. I say this not to brag (though I am proud of what we have accomplished) but to point out that I will be getting no “handouts” as a result of Obama’s election (as the writer accused me of) in fact just the opposite.

So you say you have fought “for a long time for the unborn and against abortion” and for that I acknowledge you. What exactly have you done? Have you sponsored a bill? Have you organized your community and submitted 1000’s of signatures? Have you run for local office yourself? Have you done anything tangible? Or have you just typed in chat rooms about God’s pending arrival and his anger when he comes? I gave you a forum to discuss what provisions could go into an anti-abortion law which you chose to ignore, and you still do. Sad to say, you will continue to ignore it because you have no solution, just angry declarations about what God will do. You see yourself as a victim surrounded by evil, so you absolve yourself of having take action. When you do meet God (and I do believe we all will) and he asks you “But what did you do?” will your response be “I talked about it a lot and called people godless”. Unlike you I don’t chose to speak for God, but if I did I imagine he might say “Yes…but what did you DO?”

I understand that this will go nowhere. I understand that you will continue to be angry, condemning and judgmental and will take no action. I have associates who believe fiercely that abortion should be made illegal in this country. I admire them their passion and respect the amount of work (one woman is, in fact, running for local office based on that platform) to which they dedicate to their convictions. The difference between you and them is they ACT! They let their actions speak for themselves. As they saying goes, “Chose to BE the difference you want in the world”.

I know I won’t get any answers to my questions. And I know that your response will be as condemning as it was before “no heart….godless…etc” because you have no answers and are unwilling to even try. So I’ll let you have the last word, reign hellfire down on me (and other people whom you disagree with in here) and we can be done with this. Time will, as always, march on.

Could I just point out that nobody in their right mind is pro-abortion. We are all anti-abortion, but some of us recognize that there will always be desperate young women. The choice is not between legal abortion and no abortion. It is between legal abortion and illegal abortion. I would far rather have legal abortion available to women. It provides for counseling and the presentation of some choices, like adoption, before the procedure. Illegal abortion is dirty, dangerous and has no place in a civilized society. You are not going to stop abortion, but if you make it illegal, you’re just sending it back to the alleyways and the unqualified or unscrupulous practitioner.

That is the problem with this administration. They want to take away our right to free speech and control every aspect of our lives! I cant believe all the fools out there that voted for Obama! do your homework people!! Obama also wants to take away our right to bare arms!! it’s all about control. so mister secret service man, if i am not allowed to speak mind in America anymore then you might as well lock me up, and everyone else in this country also!

Don’t be such a hypocrit saying we should stop quoting the Bible, then say we should pray. God gave us the Bible as a foundation of strength! It’s a teaching too toward His will and HE expects us to use HIS WORD to fight injustice. Prayer is only part of it.

Well, I really can’t believe this story is true. Shocking. Creepy. Especially since the man was simply RUNNING for President at this point.

Also Susie, I hate to inform you but (as much as sane people can’t believe it), yes, there ARE people who are pro-killing-little-babies. Women have many, many choices. To simply be pro-choice might sound more like, “Hey, exercise your choice to not have sex. We will only sanction abortions for rape or other non-choice situations.”

Bare arms…hilarious.

Sigh. OVER…he’s not the President. He’s the President ELECT.

I hate Obama’s politics but I’m glad that:
1. We have our first black president (elect)
2. He loves and respects his wife deeply 3. He does have a faith even if his values express themselves in social gospel avenues versus conservative ones.

Recording phone calls without consent of the second party is illegal. Many people may not observe that restriction, but political campaigns do.

I’m curious; has this story been confirmed with the Secret Service personnel who were alleged to have come knocking? Secret Service does have an obligation to check out alleged death threats, and the volunteer in question may have misheard Jessica Hughes’ words.

Unless you object to police officers investigating allegations of crimes there’s little grounds here for a countersuit, given that it sounds like the supposed Secret Service agents did nothing more than question her, and caution her that hostility expressed towards a candidate under Secret Service protection could naturally lead to confusion or concern, especially if strong emotions were part of the expression.

People of good will mishear (and misspeak) things all the time. Surely Hughes is not advocating that the Secret Service abandon its duties?

First of all, it is bad enough we have to put up with all of the phone calls on our home phones, we shouldn’t have to have them coming in on our cell phones too. Those numbers should be private. Secondly, now we can’t even have an opinion on who we want to vote for. I thought this was a free country…if we wanted to live in a country without rights, we would move there. This election has brought out a lot of mixed emotions in our country, but I think we should have the right to our opinions without fear of being wrongly accused.

I’m sorry that a lot of time and tax $ was wasted on something as minor as a missunderstanding during a cellular phone conversation. I sure hope that Mrs. Hughes life will get back to normal very soon.

Please realize that w/ a new administration will come many changes that we probably all will not agree on. Just remember we will get to vote again very soon. I think we will see more changes then.

Remember this is a very historic period of time in our nation’s history. We have our 1st black first lady and our 1st mixed race President. Yes, he is half white! He was raised in a white household by his white grandparents in Hawaii after his African father abandoned him and his white mother. I wonder if they had to apply for government assistance during that time of his life.

Why didn’t they all go back to Africa w/ his father where he might have grown up to be the 1st mixed President of Kenya. Makes you wonder, don’t it.

I’m proud to say that I voted for some democrats & very proud to say that I voted for John McCain, a true American hero, for president. I’m not sure when another hero will be elected president. We will have another chance in a few years so be patient and hold on to your wallet.

In some states, Texas being one of them, it is perfectly legal for either the caller or the person receiving the call to record it WITHOUT the other party’s consent or knowledge. You need only to be a participant in the conversation.

Surely you are not implying that political campaigns do observe all restrictions are you? That rhetorical question is posed only to demonstrate Mrs. Hughes’ point about
