Taxpayers should take time to learn about county’s finances

It’s election season and, coincidence or not, the fiscal policies of our county sheriff are being questioned again.

County Auditor Eddie Gray has complained in letters to Sheriff Kent Henson and the district attorney’s office that there are “several areas of concern” in the way the sheriff’s office processes its forfeiture and restitution funds.

You’ve got to be kidding right Lufkin Daily? How am I supposed to attend the budget meetings when I’m at work so I can pay the taxes that they’re sitting around and deciding how to spend? Does that make sense? When will you put pressure on our commissioners and county judge to have the meetings at night? I’d like to say that you guys talk a good game but you know what…you don’t. You say one thing and do another. But you guys are part of a liberal media who, in your true heart, feel that we tax payers are too stupid to understand what’s going on anyway. You go ahead and make yourselves feel better and tell everyone to get involved in their county government, I’ll be at work paying the bills. What a crock.

Or should we say on how they try to twist things around so that the tax payers don’t see what’s coming to them such as when they showed off on their school bonds. They made tax payers think that their taxes wouldn’t go up. Maybe not the cost of taxes per area but when our property values are rising hihg our tax fees are going right up there with them. How can a property value go up when there’s no work done to it and the house market is a disaster right now. It does feel like s** to have to work for people who dn’t know how to jugle our money.

MY SONS WERE VERY EXCITED ABOUT ATTENDING BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB HERE IN LUFKIN. ALTHOUGH I HEAD HEARD THAT SOME KIDS WERE BULLIES I THOUGHT IT MUST NOT BE SOMETHING PEOPLE LET HAPPEN AT A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HELP KIDS. SO MY KIDS WENT, FOR 1 WEEK AND FINALLY THEY BROKE DOWN AND TOLD ME THEY HAD BEEN BULLIED. 1 WAS HIT WITH A POOL CUE AND HAS A BRUISE STILL. I HAVE A PICTURE OF IT. 1 WAS PUSHED OFF HIS CHAIR BY A BIG KID. MY KIDS ARE 9 AND 12. WHEN MY SONS TOLD AN ADULT THEY WERE CALLED TATTLE TALES BY THE ADULT. A DAY I WENT TO PICK THEM UP THERE WAS A LITTLE BOY CRYING, HE COULD NOT EVEN TALK. HE HAT BEEN KICKED IN THE PRIVATE AREA, I TOLD AN ADULT AND THEY BLEW ME OFF. THEY SAID, HE CANT TALK ENGLISH. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY DAYCARE PROVIDER, WHERE MY KIDS ARE NOW RETURNING TO…THAT NO ONE LISTENS TO THESE COMPLAINTS. ALL THE LOCAL MONEY, BLACK TIE EVENTS, MONEY FROM TEMPLE GOING THERE AND SUPPORTING THIS PLACE THAT IS NOT FIT TO TAKE CARE OF KIDS. PLEASE SOMEONE DO SOMETHING. PLEASE TELL OF YOUR EXPERIENCE.

Would anyone be surprised to learn that Rick Harrison’s wife was fired from the district attorney’s office. Guess what she did - handled money.

Ok, even though this mayor may not handle the books so well, let’s not make him sound like he is a bad person! He is a very kind, caring, christian person. He went above and beyond when my brother went missing a couple of years back. He sat outside where he was last seen with the family all night. He interviewed people, he went looking all over town, he was comforting the family…and praying with us for his saefty. We will all never forget what he did for us in our time of need. Thank you Sherrif Henson! And now, we are praying for you! For everything you are facing right now, may God bless you and give you strength!

The Biy’s & Girls Club do suck. That’s why I will never let children go there again. No one in this town listens. When I bought my house off Feagin a couple of years ago I was also paying $1,5,00.00 @ year in taxes. Now my taxes have gone up to $2,200.00 @ year with no work being done to the house. Now how can that be? I mean, homestead doesn’t even help if they turn around and increase the value of ur home. Again the Biys & Girls Club suck. Or should I say the people running it.

boys and girls club personel do not care what is going on there.they let kids be bullies. and they dont care because they are not regulated like day care. why doesnt anyone ever go make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing? all they are doing is letting these kids act like hooligans and they will grow up and go to jail i wont send my kids there either because of the treatment of my kids.
