Supreme Court rules in favor of Second Amendment gun right

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense in their homes, the justices’ first major pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history.

The court’s 5-4 ruling struck down the District of Columbia’s 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the Second Amendment. The decision went further than even the Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most firearms restrictions intact. — The Associated Press

John McCain welcomed the Supreme Court decision invalidating the Washington, D.C. handgun ban. Barack Obama said he favors an individuals right to bear arms as well as a governments right to regulate them. Barack Obama, responding to a questionaire in 1988, indicated he was in favor of banning the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons. In another survey, he indicated he supported a ban on the manufacture, sale and possesion of handguns. Barack Obama said he would nominate Supreme Court Justices like the four (4) that voted against the Second Amendment.

Way to go Supreme Court!! Criminals disregard laws, so gun control laws only prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves. Granted, there are occassional deadly accidents involving guns that might not happen if gun control laws were in effect. But the other side of that issue are the lives that might be saved if they had access to a loaded gun when the need arose. Citizens should have the right to protect themselves and their property with deadly force if needed.

If your a Bush hater you can thank him personally for doing the right thing and putting in Supreme Court Justices that are constitution believing. Call me the parnoid gun guy but dont relax thinking as a gun owner you are free from the anti gunners now because of this ruling. They will now continue their attacks with high gun or ammunition taxes or fugure out some other way to get in the back door to slowly erode your rights. Remember in November who the Obamas and Pelosies of this world are and dont vote for these types of people unless you want attacks on your personal freedoms.
