Here We go,just another form of our freedom being taken away from Us.Even though I’ve quit smoking,I respect their no smoking ban inside. But outside???????Just another form of communism by telling Us what to do and what not to do,Next it will be our cars and then our homes. What is happening to our freedom????????? FREEDOM????? Freedom that I and Others fought and died for. D.C.A.Sr. Elm Mott,Tx.

I have no plans to be at EITHER establishment, but if there’s a need, and if I want a cigarette, I WILL smoke outside!
ARREST ME! COMMUNISTS!

The Providence hospital has a smoking area outside, far away from any sidewalk or doorway. I suppose someone could get 18th hand smoke if they tried. Folks, these are hospitals!!! Families, friends and even patients need to let out their anxieties. Let the big guys sit out there awhile and listen to the grief that is being passed on by family members.
My insurance will love this, because I won’t go unless I am half dead, although my wife claims this now and then. LOL
Interview the folks who are not giving up smoking. You do me no favors. <><

Finally, we can stop holding our breath as we exit the hospitals. The second-hand smoke outside the ER at Providence could spur an asthma attack. Good job and thanks.

Oh, and you are correct, Big Dave. I’m retired Navy. If I had a friend that was blown dead out of the water (and he was a smoker), I could say, bless his death, ‘cause smokin’ would have killed him.
Good news, Obama smoked. Probably still does. We could use another smoking president. <><

This is beyond silly. Banning smoking INSIDE of buildings makes sense. Banning it within a reasonable radius of the door makes sense.
Banning it broadly across the entire grounds makes no sense at all. You know what smokers do when they’re nervously waiting on hearing if their loved one gets out of surgery? They go outside and smoke and it helps them calm their nerves.
What about patients? It was one thing when smoking patients took their IV with them outside once a day to go smoke, now you want them to walk half a mile? This is insane.
BS like this makes me want to go back to the middle east or asia where people are still FREE to do anything they want. In the US about the only freedom we have left that the middle east doesn’t have is the right to criticize our leaders. The rest of them have gone down the crapper.

Thanks Judy, I’ve been a heart patient for many years that makes frequent visits through Providence’s Out Patient entrance and must endure the smoke at or near the doorways. Holding my breath is not the best thing for someone in heart/respiratory distress. Those individuals who have an addiction to nicotine should not be given preferrential treatment in our society.

Some people are so worried about second hand smoke outside. Are ya’ll STUPID!!! How did you get there? No doubt from fumes off a vehicle. What do you think the hospitals emissions are putting in the air you breathe entering it? I go into an itch attack every time someone is wearing to much hairspray or perfume. Do you think we should ban them as well from being worn? Inside ; I agree No Smoking. Outside; I’ll continue to smoke whether there is a policy for No Smoking or not. As will all the other poisonous emissions from these hospitals keep putting in the air we breathe along with the automobiles we drive.

David,I will have to agree with You 110%.People in Asia do have more freedom than We do.If We aren’t careful they will take away our right to criticize our so called leaders as it is. You bet ,smoking does calm You down if Your stressed. Like I said this morning Our FREEDOM IS GOING DOWN THE CRAPPER. U.S.R.,Your right to.Look out fat people We are next.Just wait until they socialise medicine. If Your fat like me,hang it up.They won’t treat You.

Both of these Hospitals should look at the death rates from their patients who have got Hospital acquired infections and see if they shouldn’t do something about that instead of preaching how they are saving lives by banning smoking. More people in this area die from the nasty stuff they bring out of those two hospitals than from smoking. People who live in glass houses…..

thanks for taking another freedom, does your doctor smoke ? How about your nurse, or your insurance company agents? How about any of your relatives. these smokers pay higher insurance coverage for this reason! They should have the right to choose if they want to be around smokers or not. Who are we to judge? There is only one judge that we really have to answer to!~!!!!!!Its certain that its not here on earth!
