Reconnecting with East Waco? One of our neighbors? No! East Waco is not one of our neighbors. East Waco is part of Waco. East Waco is Us! Waco City Hall and the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce (and now the Tribune) has always seperated and segregated themselves from East Waco. East Waco has always been considered the OTHER side of the tracks or the river. Consider all the money being poured into Downtown Waco? Not one dime is being spent to help East Waco with the decaying buildings and East Waco’s battle against crime and the plague of the Crack houses. After you get through (living in the past); take a ride thru Estelle Maxie or down Preston and Hood streets and experience the criminal present. Visit one of the many Crack houses…if you dare. Open your eyes and wake up to the crime infestation in Waco.

Relax Fred and take the chip off your shoulder. Re-read the phrase that upset you, it is an inclusive reference to “neighbors” in East Waco.
