Are illegal immigrants leaving the United States?
Illegal immigrants are going home.
That is the conclusion of a new study which says that stepped-up enforcement efforts are working, causing thousands of illegal immigrants to self-deport.
The population has declined 11 percent since last summer — from 12.5 million to 11.2 million, according to the report by the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington think tank that advocates lower levels of immigration.
“The evidence is powerful and consistent that enforcement is having the desired effect,” said Steven Camarota, the report’s main author and director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies.
The study also said that the nation’s economic slowdown is partly responsible for the decline.
Rep. Lamar Smith, a Texas Republican and ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, said that the report proves that enforcement works.
“Opponents of immigration enforcement claim that there are only two ways to address illegal immigration: amnesty or mass deportation. But there is another and better option and that is to simply enforce current laws,” he said, in a statement.
But Angela Kelley, director of the Immigrant Policy Center, said the study lacks hard data and has “faulty logic.”
She criticized the authors for determining “likely” illegal immigrants by using a certain percentage of less educated, foreign-born Hispanic adults who are 18 to 40 years old.
“The authors report confidently about a population that is nearly impossible to accurately measure,” she said.

This is excellent news for American Citizens, not so good for pro-Illegal Alien Moonbats who advocate turning Illegals into economic slaves.
That horrible practice only benefits unscrupulous employers & the despotic leaders of the 3rd world banana republics who refuse to allow their own poor underclass’s basic human rights.

After that, they sold the car and got around with great difficulty on a bicycle.
Finally it was the loneliness. He did not bring his wife and young children, whom he had not seen for 2 ½ years, for fear of the risk of arrest and detention. “I never lacked for work, but I never felt good here,” Salinas, 43, said in Spanish one recent afternoon, his last in Miami before boarding a plane to Mexico City. “The patrones pay only what they want. You live with very little, and then you’re also alone, and always fearful of arriving at work and having them come looking for you. I don’t like living with this uneasiness.”
No hard figures exist, but various surveys and anecdotes from immigrants, their advocates and consular officers in Miami suggest that more Latin Americans are voluntarily heading back home, the apparent result of the U.S. economic downturn and anxiety generated by a federal crackdown on illegal immigration.
The hardest hit appear to be those in agricultural, construction, food processing and service jobs in which many immigrants work.’]

“Agency allows immigrants here illegally to avoid raids, prison by turning selves in”
[‘Rather than risk getting caught, turn yourselves in. That’s the latest government strategy in its ongoing effort to dramatically reduce the nation’s ballooning population of illegal immigrants. Scheduled to be unveiled next week, it was announced Sunday by Julie Myers, director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in an interview with a Spanish-language television network.
Myers told the network that “Operation Scheduled Departure” will allow illegal immigrants without criminal records a chance to literally “self-deport” by turning themselves in to her agents. She said the idea derived from a common complaint voiced by immigrant detainees: If given the opportunity, they’d rather just go home than be holed up in immigration prisons.
Under the new program, those still walking free will have the chance to walk into ICE offices, be processed and get a few weeks to arrange their affairs, pack their belongings and ship out of the country without being detained.
“The program basically gives an opportunity to those seeking an organized way to self-deport,” Myers told Univisión anchor Jorge Ramos. Myers said the program would allow immigrants to avoid the increasing risks of being picked up in a raid at home or at work, but would offer no additional incentives to turn themselves in — no chance at qualifying for an amnesty, for example. ICE officials in San Antonio, Dallas and Washington refused to elaborate on the program, saying no details will be made available before the official presentation next week.’]
Now a few words from the pro-Illegal Alien Moonbats who encourage Illegal Aliens to become economic slaves.

[‘Immigrant advocates called it a laughable charade with little to no chance of succeeding without any carrots to offer self-deportees. “It’s pure fantasy,” said Doug Rivlin, spokesman for the National Immigration Forum in Washington. “An attempt to entice people to sign away their rights and get out of the country as quickly as possible before even talking to a lawyer.” If people truly wanted to leave on their own, they’d buy their own bus or plane ticket home without checking in with ICE first, Rivlin said. Ira Mehlman, spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, the country’s largest anti-illegal-immigration lobby group based in Washington, said he’d have to concede that point. The government would have to offer some kind of incentive to entice immigrants to sign up, such as telling them that by leaving voluntarily they would be allowed to apply to come back legally, Mehlman said. The concept of nudging undocumented immigrants into leaving on their own is one his group has long advocated. “It certainly makes sense to create conditions to make people understand that if they’re here illegally, it’s not going to benefit them to stick around,” he said.’]
Pro-Illegal Aliens Moonbats will always confuse the issue by referring to their pet Illegals as Immigrants. That way when they’ll attack all those who oppose the invasion of Illegal Aliens by calling those patriots “anti-Immigrant.”
[‘While it remains to be seen whether the idea works for ICE, another federal agency that came up with the idea three years ago claims it has worked well.

It is impossible to determine how many illegals there are right now. I live in an area where they come in droves. They have so many kids, their kids help them stay here. however, they still train their kids to be Mexican not American. We need to get rid of the birthright thing. If the parents are illegal the child should not automatically make the family legal.

Anyone knows that as an infested animal starts to die, the fleas and ticks upon it leave to find other hosts… no use infesting a dead one right? The situation is also analogous to rats fleeing a sinking ship. They’ve had their hand in destroying the economies of the southwestern states, and now that California, Arizona, etc. are wounded, perhaps beyond repair, they are going back where they should have stayed in the first place.

I remember when the open border types said you couldn’t send back 20 million illegals…and we said yes it could be done. Especially if they self-deport, which we knew would happen if we enforced our laws, gave jobs to Americans first and kept businesses from abusing this cheap labor pool.

Well said Larry. Do you also remember the name calling, verbal abuse & threats of physical violence that were directed at us? The names & threats were all from warm n’ fuzzy pro-Illegal Alien Moonbats.
That abuse was just for suggesting that if we withheld freebies for Illegals, they’d scram, muy pronto. All without spending any more of our hard earned tax dollars. I can remember it like it was all just a few months ago. Now what’s irritating is that our FedGov has figured out how to spend our strained tax dollars on the self-deportation Illegal Aliens.

Most of the numerous studies that show how Illegal Aliens are self deporting, do highlight the benefits of enforcing existing Immigration Laws without the need for “comprehensive immigration boondoggles.” However missing from these many studies is the extent of the impact American Citizens had on our jellyfish spined political representatives.
Our political cucarachas paled in horror at the sight of millions of American Patriots from most political philosophies banded together to defend their USA against the outrage of the invasion of Illegal Aliens. American Citizens refused to accept the globalists plan of 21st century slave masters utilizing Illegal Aliens as economic slaves & rose up in unison in defense of our USA.
That to me is the real story, the awakening of the American Citizens to the power of the people, “we the people of these United States of America.” God Bless America while we still can.
[‘ Amid alarmed cries that the illegal immigration problem is spiraling out of control, the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. has actually declined since last summer - and many who have left have returned home on their own.
A report by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), based on Census Bureau data, estimates that the illegal immigrant population in the U.S. has gone down by 11 percent through May after peaking in August 2007.
That means the illegal population has declined 1.3 million since last summer, from 12.5 million to 11.2 million. “The estimated decline of the illegal population is at least seven times larger than the number of illegal aliens removed by the government in the last 10 months, so most of the decline is due to illegal immigrants leaving the country on their own,” the report asserts.
The CIS maintains that stepped-up enforcement rather than the sluggish economy is leading to the decline in illegal aliens, which began before there was a significant rise in their unemployment rate. The report points out that the fenced portion of the U.S. border has increased significantly in the past 18 months, the number of Border Patrol agents has more than doubled in recent years, and the number of detention beds used to hold illegals has more than doubled since 2000.
According to the CIS, the evidence “indicates that illegal immigrants respond to changing incentives and that many would return home on their own if they felt enforcement was a real possibility.”
The CIS also notes that when Congress failed to pass legislation last summer that would legalize illegal immigrants, the illegal alien population began to decline almost immediately. If that decline were to be sustained, the illegal population would drop by one half in the next five years, according to the CIS.
The organization concludes: “It is sometimes argued that illegal immigrants are so permanently attached to their lives in the United States that no amount of enforcement would ever make a large share of them return to their home countries. The findings of this report … contradict that.”
The Christian Science Monitor in an editorial attributes the “success story” disclosed by the CIS study to “Washington’s wake-up call last summer to beef up enforcement, from plugged leaks in the border to cracking down on employers who hired illegal workers.” The Monitor adds, “John McCain only reluctantly came around to the ‘enforcement first’ idea last year while Barack Obama opposes it. Perhaps this study will make them true converts.”’]

I hate to wake up Raymond but ‘indians’ are also immigrants. They just immigrated here several thousand years earlier than the rest of us. As far as being afraid of ‘spanic’ people I doubt if that is true, after all our Mexican neighbors chased the spanic people away from here a couple hundred years ago. And finally which indian language do you want us to learn…there were several hundred of them at one time. Now our indians speak English, just like all Americans….something you can also do raymond with just a little more practice.
